Connecting Outscale
This guide walks you through connecting an Outscale Object Storage (OOS) storage destination to Pluton.
Prerequisites
Before connecting Outscale, you need:
- An Outscale account — Sign up here
- An Access Key ID and Secret Access Key from the Outscale console
Getting Your Outscale Credentials
Step 1: Create Access Keys
- Log into the Outscale Cockpit Console
- Navigate to Access Keys under the Identity and Access Management section
- Click Create Access Key
- Copy both the Access Key ID and Secret Access Key — the secret is shown only once
Step 2: Prepare Your Bucket
- Navigate to Object Storage > Buckets in the Outscale console
- Note the bucket name you want to use, or create a new bucket
- Note the Region where your bucket is located (e.g., eu-west-2, us-east-2)
Connecting to Pluton

Step 1: Add Storage
- In Pluton, navigate to Storages
- Click Add Storage button
- Select Outscale from the provider list
Step 2: Configure Connection
Fill in the required fields:
- Storage Name: A friendly name (e.g., "Outscale OOS Backups")
- Access Key ID: Your Outscale Access Key ID
- Secret Access Key: Your Outscale Secret Access Key (password)
- Region: Select the region matching your bucket location. Available regions include Paris, France (eu-west-2), New Jersey, USA (us-east-2), California, USA (us-west-1), SecNumCloud Paris (cloudgouv-eu-west-1), and Tokyo, Japan (ap-northeast-1). You can also enter a custom region if needed
Step 3: Advanced Options (Optional)
Additional settings available:
- Server-side Encryption: Encrypt objects at rest using AES256 or AWS KMS
- Storage Class: The storage class for new objects (Standard, Reduced Redundancy, Standard IA, Glacier, etc.)
- Bucket ACL: Canned ACL applied when creating buckets (Private, Public Read, etc.)
- Requester Pays: Enable requester pays option when interacting with the bucket
Step 4: Test and Save
- Click Test Connection to verify credentials
- If successful, click Save
- Your Outscale storage is now ready for backup plans
Common Issues
Authentication Failure: Verify that your Access Key ID and Secret Access Key are correct and the key is still active in the Outscale console.
Region Mismatch: The selected region must match where your bucket was created. Each region has a distinct OOS endpoint (e.g., oos.eu-west-2.outscale.com).
Permission Denied: Ensure your access key has the appropriate EIM (Outscale Identity and Access Management) policies for object storage operations.
Best Practices
- Create dedicated access keys with minimal required permissions for Pluton
- Use the SecNumCloud region (cloudgouv-eu-west-1) if you require French sovereign cloud compliance
- Select a region close to your Pluton server to minimize transfer latency
- Monitor your OOS usage through the Outscale Cockpit to manage storage costs
