Connecting Internxt
This guide explains how to connect Internxt Drive to Pluton for storing your backups.
Prerequisites
- An Internxt account - Sign up here
- Verify that your Internxt plan supports third-party app access at internxt.com/pricing
About Internxt
Internxt is a zero-knowledge encrypted cloud storage service. Your files are encrypted on your device before being uploaded, ensuring that only you can access your data. Pluton connects using your Internxt email and password.
Getting Your Internxt Credentials
No special API key or token is needed — Pluton authenticates directly with your Internxt email and password.
If you have two-factor authentication (2FA) enabled on your Internxt account, you will be prompted for the authenticator code during the initial connection setup.
Connecting to Pluton
Step 1: Add Storage
- In Pluton, navigate to Storages
- Click Add Storage button
- Select Internxt Drive from the provider list
Step 2: Configure Connection
Fill in the required fields:
- Storage Name: A friendly name (e.g., "Internxt Backups")
- Email: Your Internxt account email address
- Password: Your Internxt account password
Your credentials are stored securely and encrypted in Pluton's configuration.
Step 3: Test and Save
- Click Test Connection to verify your credentials
- If 2FA is enabled, enter your authenticator code when prompted
- Once successful, click Save
- Your Internxt storage is now ready for backup plans
Common Issues
Authentication Failed: Double-check your email and password. If you recently changed your Internxt password, update it in Pluton's storage configuration.
Plan Compatibility: Not all Internxt plans may support third-party access. Verify compatibility at internxt.com/pricing or contact Internxt support.
2FA Prompt: If you have two-factor authentication enabled, ensure you have access to your authenticator app during setup.
Slow Operations: As a zero-knowledge encrypted service, operations involve encryption/decryption overhead. This is normal and expected.
Limitations
- Modification times are read-only and not used for sync comparisons — Pluton relies on file size and checksums instead
- Hash-based verification is not available
- Operations may be slower compared to non-encrypted providers due to encryption overhead
Security Notes
Your Internxt password and an account mnemonic are stored in Pluton's configuration. It is strongly recommended to ensure Pluton's own configuration encryption is enabled to protect these credentials.
Best Practices
- Since Internxt provides its own zero-knowledge encryption, evaluate whether you also need Pluton's encryption layer to avoid double-encryption overhead
- Keep your Internxt account credentials up to date in Pluton if you change your password
- Monitor backup logs to ensure transfers complete successfully
- Consider Internxt's storage quota when planning backup retention policies
