Removing a Device
Removing a device from Pluton is a three-step process: disconnecting it from the Pluton dashboard, uninstalling the agent from the device itself, and freeing up the license slot.
Step 1: Remove the Device from Pluton
- Go to your Pluton Dashboard and open the Sources page.
- Click on the device you want to remove.
- Click the three-dot menu icon in the top-right corner and select Remove Device.
- Confirm the prompt to permanently remove the device from Pluton.
note
If the device has any backup plans associated with it, you must delete those first from the Plans page before you can remove the device.
Step 2: Uninstall the Agent
After removing the device from Pluton, uninstall the agent from the device itself to clean up all related files and services. Follow the uninstall instructions for your device type:
- Uninstall the agent from a Windows device
- Uninstall the agent from a Linux Desktop instance
- Uninstall the agent from a Linux Server
Step 3: Remove the Device from Your License
Once the device is no longer in use, remove it from your license key to free up a slot for another device.
- Log in to the Pluton PRO Account Management page.
- Click the subscription that corresponds to your license key.
- Find the device in the device list — it is listed by its hostname or device name.
- Click the trash icon next to the device to remove it from your license.
